When two childhood friends from Genoa, Italy stumbled upon Tulum almost two decades ago, they knew that it was their destiny. They quickly obtained residency documents, and along with their pots, pans, knives and pasta maker, set out for Mexico together.
The initial layout of the hotel was sketched on a napkin. The seeds were planted quite literally more that 20 years ago, including the palms that were planted from coconuts and the courtyard garden that is much like the one back in Genoa. The hotel was lovingly built by the hands of these two friends. The four villa style buildings take many design cues from Italy, as does the garden and the menu.
The Posada enjoys a beachfront location on the Caribbean, the perfect spot to take in spectacular sunrises. Lounge the day away in our casita day beds, or the hammock under the palapa, all while enjoying the soothing sounds of the surf. Naturally the clear waters of the sea are the perfect spot to cool off in the heat of the afternoon sun.
As food is a very important part of life in Italy, it is no different here. The menu features traditional Italian recipes, altered just enough to incorporate the abundant bounty of fish and produce sourced locally. Not surprisingly, our wine list is exclusively Italian wines.
Along the way, we have had the good fortune to have many of our team be with us since the very beginning and consider them to be our family, and the hotel our home. This is our goal, to have our guests feel like they are staying at a home, not a hotel. We want our guests to experience the warmth of traditional Italian hospitality in the lush setting of the Caribbean coast of Mexico.
